The terrifying new bad guy in season 2 of The Flash is Zoom, an evil speedster from Earth-2 who is faster than The Flash, smarter, stronger, and just generally more badass.

Scary, right? The Flash/Scarecrow/Batman look is pretty good.

As sure as I am that Rubio and Clinton will be the nominees for their respective political parties, I guarantee that Zoom is played by John Wesley Shipp, the actor who plays Barry Allen's father Henry Allen on The Flash, BUT will end up being Henry Allen from Earth-2. What's great about Shipp being on the new CW version of the show in the first place is that he actually played Barry Allen/The Flash back in the 90's, on the hopelessly cheesy original live-action version of The Flash on CBS - which I watched.

This opinion (fact) on Zoom's alter ego is borne out by the character's resemblance to Shipp, the fact that Earth-1 Henry Allen was released from prison and immediately decided to leave town for no good reason in the season 2 premiere, and because, of course, it would be a delicious mindfuck for Barry Allen of Earth-1 to have to battle and defeat a man who basically is his father, but from Earth-2 and evil and faster and stronger than he is, and bent on killing him and taking his speed.

Zoom today and Shipp as The Flash in the 90s. Gotta be the same dude.

I'll bet on this like I'll bet on Trump and Carson being the Bachmann and Cain of 2016. This not just TV, which for all its improvements in recent years is still somewhat predictable entertainment, but it's fucking the CW TV -- not exactly the height of sophistication. My confidence in this prediction is suitably high.

Btw, ugh the CW. I would watch the shit out of a version of The Flash that's as dark and well-written/acted as Daredevil on Netflix. I do have to hand it to them, though - this new episode's final 10 minutes are easily the bloodiest, scariest, most fucked-up moments of this show to date. I just wish that for once Barry/The Flash could stop getting his ass kicked by every bad speedster he meets. I mean, he never really bested Reverse Flash in season 1. He basically lost to that guy repeatedly. And this dude is worse.
