Last night during his State of the Union address, President Obama was in the midst of wrapping things up, making a point that America deserves more than partisan divisions in its government, and that searching for places where the parties agree is more important than highlighting disagreements. So his scripted line was, "I have no more campaigns to run. My only agenda for the next two years is the same as the one I’ve had since the day I swore an oath on the steps of this Capitol — to do what I believe is best for America."
However, as soon as he said "I have no more campaigns to run," a bunch of shithead Republicans in the room began to applaud. So he ad-libbed the response, "I know because I won both of them."
While that zinger contradicts his message of non-partisan unity in governing, it was wholly appropriate in the face of assholery from people who refuse to get along. I read afterward that some Republican whiners are upset that Obama took a shot back at them, after they took a shot at him.
TL;dr: If you didn't want to be smacked back, you shouldn't have hit him first.
Also, I would like to take this moment to remind every Republican/conservative Obama-hater that the way you feel only vaguely resembles the constant frustration I endured during the Bush/Cheney years, so suck it up.
