"Lucio Dalla is sort of the Italian Bob Dylan and is from Bologna (where my roommate is from. I believe his stupid brother drank my nice wine. He is living with us since his girlfriend kicked him out. Good times.)

This song '4 Marzo 1943' was originally called "Jesus' Child" but the title was censored. I think its about a single mother and a soldier. And something about "even whores and thieves are children of god." Even roommates that drink your wine.  Maybe there's a lesson here.
Fabrizio de Andre also wrote about thieves and prostitutes. And communists. And such. And he was also from the North... 'Nuvole Barocche' (1960) This is his first single and means "Baroque Clouds."

That makes me think of The Byrds...
