wild belle
Wild Belle is a duo in the studio, Natalie and Eliot Bergman, brother and sister, Chicago residents who make reggae-inspired music, wif a little soul. I can't get enough of their languid vibe, anchored by a fat baritone sax that just hits me in my pleasure centers.
Check out "Keep You":
Eliot is a longtime member of NOMO from Michigan, an eclectic jazz-influenced Afrobeat project. Natalie is a singer-songwriter who approached her brother with new songs she had composed, and Wild Belle was formed soon after.
They self-released a 12" single for the song "Keep You" earlier this year, and have been subsequently signed to Columbia records. I saw them live for the first time last night, and they did not disappoint.
Listen to the groovy mixtape they put together:
Jennifer Lara – Close To You
The Diddys Feat. Paige Douglas – Intergalactic Love Song
Dr. John – Get Away
Alton Ellis – What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)
Green Arrow – Madzangara Dzimu
Pedro Santos – Dual
Dirty Projectors – Gun Has No Trigger
The Mgbaba Queens – Akulalwa Esoweto
Hallelujah Chicken Run Band – Mudzimu Ndiringe
Tlahoun Gèssèssè – Lantchi Biyé
Watch for their LP Isles March 2013.
