Immediately following an early screening of Sleepwalk With Me.
Last weekend me and my ladyfriend attended a screening of Sleepwalk With Me, a new film born in the standup comedy of Mike Birbiglia, a frequent contributor to This American Life. Ira Glass, who was one of the producers of the film and also helped write it, was there to help boost interest, and did a fun Q&A afterward where 2 things occurred:
He asked everyone in the audience to take a picture of him onstage, and in turn post it to their social networking profiles, to help promote Sleepwalk With Me. Hence, this post.
A girl in the audience identified herself as someone who suffers from the same sleepwalking episodes Birbiglia experiences, which prompted Glass to call her up onstage and interview her about the fact that she had no plans yet to see a doctor (in spite of the film he had just shown to her). As she was returning to her seat, he called her back and gave her all the cash in his wallet, which was $300, and insisted she see a doctor ASAP.
