I spent a good chunk of the day assembling the Oval double-vinyl with Stone the Substitute Intern, but I also was lucky enough to get put on a couple little side-jobs to break up the multiple levels of monotony. For instance, I put together press mailers of posters for promoters/venues who are hosting Tortoise and The Sea and Cake on their current, respective tours. This required label-writing, poster counting, photocopying letters, weighing packages, generating postage, and stuffing/sealing everything. It was, strangely, fun. Later on there was also hole-punching of promo cd barcodes, and moving Boredoms postcards from bigger boxes into smaller boxes. Thrilling, right?*
Finally, Erik set up a new "free box" in the kitchen area of years' worth of promos he was now passing along, and so I rummaged through and ended up with a nice little pile of stuff to investigate:
Scott Solter Plays Pattern Is Movement - Canonic
(V/A) Not Given Lightly: A Tribute to the Giant Golden Book of New Zealand's Alternative Music Scene
Robert Pollard Is Off To Business
The Notwist - Music For "Storm", A movie by Hans-Christian Schmid
Sean Lennon - Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead
Hospital Ships - Oh, Ramona
Bear In Heaven - Red Bloom of the Boom
Feathers - Absolute Noon
Feathers - Synchromy
Mouse on Mars. - Niun Niggung
Score! Meanwhile, for my proper day of intern work, I took this home and am really glad I did:
* See what I did there? :o)
