not that polls matter

Here's a heartening post-passage Gallup poll showing that Americans approve of health insurance reform 49% to 40% disapproval.

Here's a chilling post-passage poll showing what percentage Republicans think Obama is a socialist (67%), a Muslim (57%), and maybe the Antichrist (24%).

I'm posting about politics again like it's 2 months before the 2008 Presidential election. There's a reason for this. The opposition, the side that lost on Nov. 2 2008, are still really frothy about continuing to lose like this. Granted, most of what we are hearing is coming from fringey nuts over there, but still: I do not underestimate their passion. It is passion similar to that, against Bush, that swept Obama into office.

So what I'm saying is, in spite of the election fatigue (and relief) we all began to feel on Nov. 3rd, we have to stand up again for our beliefs. These losers are pissed that they lost. They are afraid of progress, and all that it entails (specifically, diversity of ideas and people). We can't sit back and assume their special brand of crazy is going to keep them from being effective. Just like that one demagogue who sought to inspire his fans to return to the way they felt the day after 9/11, we have to return to the way we felt in the Fall of 2008.

We were inspired, we were excited, and we were fighting to take back the leadership of our nation from faux-conservatives, and return it to (pho) progressives. (Heh.) No really. This is important. We can't watch it like it's a goddamn circus.

Stay involved, if you care even just a little. Donate time and money. Talk to your friends and family about the issues - in person - and stay away from Facebook, or at least hide the assholes from yr feed.
