Connecticut Four is an abrasive pop band from Bellingham and Seattle, Washington. This is their first tour ever as a band; 2 weeks in the American U.S. from July 4 to July 19. They booked this tour themselves, are not signed to any label (they just recorded their debut EP about a month ago and have some copies to sell on the road), they have no manager, and as such this whole operation is very close, intense and fun.
Cristina sings lead most of the time and plays bass. She used to be in a band called Paxil Rose, and she's been playing bass in Visqueen for about six months now. Meghan plays guitar in Ct4, and sings lead sometimes. She used to front Racetrack, who toured the U.S. several times. Valerie plays drums and sings backup in Ct4, and she used to do the same thing in Mechanical Dolls. My name is Matt and I am not a musician, and I am not in Ct4. I used to book for Racetrack and some other bands, and promote shows, and so on. On this tour, my job is essentially to just be helpful. Primarily I help lift things, "drive", and plan, as well as be entertaining (and entertained) and working the iPod.
I'll be writing this blog, posted at both the Connecticut Four Myspace Blog, and my own. I've been friends with Meghan since her days in Racetrack. Last year she and Cristina would sometimes gave me a lift to visit my dying mom in Mt. Vernon while they made their way to and from band rehearsal in Bellingham. I was fortunate enough to be at Connecticut Four's first show ever in July 2008, and I've been at many more shows since. They even invited me to shout, along with Eric and Adam and Heather and James, on the EP they recorded a month back.
Meanwhile, I quit my job two weeks ago. It's a long story, but suddenly I have a tremendous amount of free time. Instead of joining the band for just 9 days of the tour, I'm going on the full two weeks! I'm stoked! That job sucked! Fuck that job! Tour is going to rule! Wooo! Exclamation Points!!
I think that's enough context for now.
