Jaydiohead is Jay-Z's rhymes laid over Radiohead samples. It is fucking awesome. If you like Jay-Z, it's worth checking out. If you like Jay-Z and Radiohead, you are going to freak the fuck out. "Wrong Prayer" gives me a music woody.

And The Moon Be Still As Bright is the solo project from John Van Deusen of The Lonely Forest, the band's lead singer. You can download 29 songs for FREE. (My favorites are Indeterminism, Statue of Libery, Dark Eyed Child, and Afrikan Ring.) Where TLF is punchy powerpop, ATMBSAB is gentle lo-fi strumminess, reminiscent of Pedro the Lion or the Microphones, both of which are big influences on John. A friend of mine said it sounds like Cloud Cult and Why? doing freak folk. Check it. Oh and btw The Lonely Forest play the Sunset this Friday Jan. 9 - go!

Lily Allen has a new album coming out It's Not Me, It's You, in about a month; click her name to hear 5 songs. Click this to hear her cover of Britney Spears' "Womanizer". She's also looking very, very good.
NPR Listener's Best Albums of 2008 is perhaps the most definitive best-of list I've seen anywhere online. Have a look if you feel like you've missed out on what the cool 30-somethings were into last year. If you want to know what the cool kids were listening to, go to some house venue shows and try not to be creepy.

Do Narwhals Have Blowholes? is a children's book illustrated by my good friend Matt Cory and written by a friend of his. It is beautiful to look at, and cute as hell to read.

Kristen Wiig is my secret ex-girlfriend. This is a nice article about her from the NY Times.
Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends is on Hulu.com! Holy crap so awesome. Fractured Fairy Tales! Mr. Peabody and Sherman!
Gnarls Barkley covering Radiohead's "Reckoner" live is outstanding:
Good Old War - "Coney Island". I don't really like the video:
