I am old friends, and good friends, with a wonderful band called
Half Acre Day. I was once their booking guy. They signed up for this sorta-irrelevant competition to get signed to an indie label named Union Records with a dubious ability to actually do anything for them that they can't do for themselves. So this contest wound through several rounds, and
HAD did well enough to make it into the final round with 3 other bands. Then things got weird. The other three bands all had THOUSANDS of votes. Bands very few people know about, competing for attention from a label no one has heard of.
HAD saw they were going to lose, regardless of the oddness of the matter, and decided to bag it.
Then they were informed by Union Records that they discovered some funny bidness going on with the voting (WHAT?!), so all the votes were reset and a new means of counting votes was established. Apparently it's harder to cheat this time.
So clicky here and go vote for Half Acre Day now. They are farking awesome, and not just because we are friends. Thanks for reading this.
